People are quite aware of the security aspect of the data in general. They take great care to ensure the security of their personal information by restricting access to everyone. They use a range of security measures and passwords to safeguard their data. However, they do not pay the same attention when they transmit the data to others over the internet. In fact, this is more dangerous. As you send your messages online, you make them vulnerable to attacks from hackers.

The servers also store and record such data on a regular basis. They can always reproduce the same when the authorities demand the same. To safeguard your personal information, you have to ensure encrypted mobile phones. You can do so by installing phone encryption software such as PGP and ECC, etc.
The question would arise as to which is the better one and why. SkyECC used the ECC software in their latest Blackberry OS smartphones. Previously, they were using PGP software. The ECC is an improvement on the PGP in many ways.

We shall see the differences in brief. The safety of the data lies in the encryption of the messages. Both the PGP and the ECC can ensure the encoding of the messages. The difference is in the encryption of the message headers and the details of the sender and the receiver. The ECC ensures these aspects as well whereas the PGP does not. This makes the ECC a complete software program in comparison.
The message encryption at the sender and receiver level is not the final solution. The message remains in the open state in the server. In other words, the PGP does not encrypt the exchange of the data between the device and the server. The ECC ensures that it does so.

One cannot use brute force to bulldoze through and access data in the ECC platform. The same is possible with the PGP software. The PGP does not encrypt the contact lists and leaves it exposed to attacks. The ECC does not leave any room for anyone to do so in this regard.
Another advantage of this system is that no one can use brute force to enter the phone. You can use a special password to disable the phone and delete the data. Thus, it becomes useless for the hacker.
Erasing all the data from a remote location is possible in the ECC using the Eliteguard duress password. It is handy in case someone forces you to divulge information or also if you lose the smartphone. This facility is not available in the PGP version.

The self-destruction of messages is available on the ECC platform. The PGP does not have any scope for self-destruction of the messages. It ensures that there is no compromise of data at any stage. In the PGP version, the mobile service provider generates the security keys and uploads the same to the device. In the ECC system, you do this job for your smartphone. It ensures a higher degree of security.
ECC allows you the facility to encrypt photos and videos as well. You do not have this advantage with the PGP. Hence, the ECC is a refined version of the PGP in many ways.
